About two years ago I started doing quick painting sketches and studies along with my friend Nick. It was more infrequent at first, as we were both busy with school projects at DigiPen, but after we graduated we started to do them almost on a daily basis. It has been really cool to see our abilities visibly progress the longer we kept at it. We stayed pretty loose, so some are true speedpaints, at an hour or less, while others started to push 3 hours long. Some of these started as studies, but I began to add my own creative elements for story and composition, so I've labeled them "Study/Speedpaint". Moving into 2019 I'll shift focus to doing ZBrush speedsculpts to improve my 3D skills, but I'll likely keep doing quick painting exercises every now and then.
